Payment case · Synthetic example
A delayed payment needs more than one explanation
“There are orders, but not enough cash” combines several possible problems. A useful reading starts by separating them, then states what a traditional interpretation can and cannot add.
Start with verification, not an expansion decision
The same total can mean different things
| Item / amount | Status | Next fact to verify |
|---|---|---|
| A / 40 | Accepted, 16 days overdue | Accepted amount, due date and actual customer response |
| B / 30 | Accepted, due in 7 days | Whether the due date is correct; not yet overdue |
| C / 20 | Acceptance incomplete | Outstanding work and agreed payment conditions |
| D / 10 | 9 days overdue, amount disputed | Disputed items and the original records |
This list is not an accounting statement. A and D total 50 overdue; 10 of that is disputed. C must not be silently treated as accepted debt. All figures are invented for explanation, not client evidence.
Match the action to the item
| Path | When to consider it | What could go wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Confirm and follow up | Amount, due date and authority are established | Repeated requests from several people may create conflicting messages |
| Complete acceptance checks | A real delivery or approval step remains incomplete | Treating a genuine condition as mere delay can deepen the dispute |
| Seek accounting or legal advice | The amount, entitlement or obligations are disputed | A standard site example cannot determine rights or deadlines |
| Wait with a defined checkpoint | The amount is not due and no other verified risk requires action | An open-ended wait can conceal missed commitments |
| Reconsider new commitments | Actual budgets and obligations have been checked | Stopping work or changing terms without advice may itself create liability |
Where a traditional reading can fit
A personal Zi Wei reading would require verified birth inputs and a recorded chart. A Qi Men reading would require the actual question, chart time and method. None is supplied in this case, so statements about a particular palace, transformation or favourable period would be invented.
If a traditional reading is later commissioned, its interpretation should be recorded separately from the ledger and contract checks. It may frame a question for discussion; it cannot establish a debt, an entitlement or the other party’s ability to pay.
Challenge the first explanation
- If most items are not yet due, the phrase “customers are withholding money” is unsupported.
- If delivery defects explain non-acceptance, changing the office or the collection script does not resolve that condition.
- If payments rise only because more invoices fell due, that rise alone does not show the intervention worked.
- If one item is recovered while a larger new overdue item appears, the original risk has not necessarily improved.
Assumptions and long-term consequences
The proposed follow-up assumes the records are accurate, the contact person has authority and the action is permitted by the contract and applicable law. Do not infer a right to suspend delivery or change terms from this page. Legal requirements depend on the actual jurisdiction and agreement.
A quick recovery can carry later costs: discounts, staff time, damage to a relationship or loss of evidence. Track net benefit and new obligations, not just money received. A review date should follow the actual contract or operating cycle, not a supposed universal 30/60/90-day prediction.
For Mainland China, the Civil Code published by the Supreme People’s Court includes the general obligation to perform as agreed (Article 509). This is a source reference, not an assessment of any specific dispute.
Review the original items, not a new success story
- Record
- Original item, supporting record, verified status, responsible person and the next agreed checkpoint.
- Compare
- Original overdue amounts recovered; newly overdue amounts, discounts and work costs recorded separately.
- Reconsider
- A changed contract fact, a missed commitment, a material dispute or increased cost can require a different path. Obtain relevant advice rather than repeatedly seeking a more favourable reading.
